YMCA of Southeastern Alberta Invites Community to Share What Helps Them Shine

Medicine Hat, AB, March 20, 2026 — The YMCA of Southeastern Alberta is inviting community members, particularly those who are not current YMCA members, to take part in a community survey aimed at better understanding local needs related to health, fitness, aquatics, and recreation.

Why the YMCA Is Asking

The YMCA of Southeastern Alberta is exploring updates to its membership model and overall health and

fitness experience. The survey is designed to shine a light on what community members value most and

where opportunities exist to better serve evolving needs. Feedback will help inform decisions related to:

  • Health and fitness programming

  • Aquatics and water safety

  • Child and youth programing

  • Membership options and accessibility

“To expand the YMCA’s impact, we need to make sure we’re offering what our community actually needs

and values,” said Sharon Hayward, CEO of the YMCA of Southeastern Alberta. “This survey focuses on

the YMCA’s health, fitness, and aquatics programs at the Downtown and South Ridge branches, and it

helps us understand what changes would resonate most with people. That insight will allow us to

improve access, encourage more people to join, and ultimately serve our community in a stronger, more

meaningful way.”

Incentive to Participate

To encourage strong participation, everyone who completes the survey can enter to win a FREE one-year

general YMCA membership. The survey is short, confidential, and open to adults living in Southeastern

Alberta.

Survey Details

  • Survey open until: March 30, 2026, at midnight and can be filled out online: YMCA of Southeastern Alberta Community Survey

  • Community members are encouraged to share the survey with friends, family, and neighbours to help ensure diverse and representative feedback.
