YMCA of Southeastern Alberta Exceeds Y Connect Campaign Goal, Raising More Than $114,000 for Local Families

Medicine Hat, AB – The YMCA of Southeastern Alberta is proud to announce the successful completion of the public portion of its 2026 Y Connect Campaign, which ran from April 1 to June 30, raising $114,667 in support of local financial assistance programs. The campaign exceeded its fundraising target by 21%, demonstrating the incredible generosity and community spirit of residents, businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and event participants across Southeastern Alberta. Formerly known as the Strong Kids Campaign, the Y Connect Campaign helps remove financial barriers so individuals and families can access YMCA programs and services, including children's day camps, health and wellness programs, and other opportunities that promote belonging, health, and personal growth.

"On behalf of the YMCA of Southeastern Alberta, I want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, sponsored, volunteered, attended events, and helped spread the word throughout the campaign," said Sharon Hayward, CEO of the YMCA of Southeastern Alberta. "The success of this campaign will help ensure that local children, youth, adults, and families can access YMCA programs, services, and day camps when financial barriers might otherwise prevent participation."

Every dollar raised through the Y Connect Campaign remains local with 100% of funds raised directed entirely toward financial assistance for Southeastern Alberta residents. These funds help ensure that YMCA programs remain accessible to those who need them most, creating opportunities for people to build connections, improve their well-being, and reach their full potential. While the public campaign has officially concluded, community members still have an opportunity to increase the impact of their support. Donations to the 2026 Y Connect Campaign will continue to be accepted until August 31, and all donations will be matched by up to 50% through the Rogers Birdies for Kids program.
