Pay Grid: Level 1 ($18/hr

Department: Association Services

Hours: Full-Time (35 hrs/week), Temporary (8 weeks)

What qualifications are we looking for?

The successful candidate will have the following:

Education/Certifications/Credentials/Professional Registration

• Have or are pursuing a Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, Marketing, Web Design or equivalent

• Standard First Aid, CPR-Level C

• Evidence of a clear Police Information Check (with Vulnerable Secor Search if applicable) within the last six months

• Must have a valid driver’s license with a class 07 automobile insurance coverage business use (or pleasure with occasional business use) and a minimum of $2,000,000 in liability coverage if required

Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) Grant Criteria

• Between 15 and 30 years (inclusive) at the start of employment

• Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (NOTE: International students are not eligible for the CSJ program)

• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment

• Legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and Canva required

• Proficiency in Meta Business Suite, Google Ads, Twitter Advertising required

• Office experience preferred

• Photography and editing skills an asset

• Video Editing Skills is an asset

• Time management and organizational skills

• Ability to work effectively, efficiently, independently, and under pressure

• Strong writing, grammar, and spelling skills preferred

What does this role look like at the YMCA of Southeastern Alberta?

Reporting to the Manager of Communications and Marketing the Social Media Coordinator responsible for managing our brand’s online presence, including but not limited to, researching audience preferences, creating engaging content, measuring web traffic, and facilitating online conversations.

The responsibilities and duties of this role will include but is not limited to:

Customer Service

• Be Committed to exceptional customer service and member engagement

• Work effectively within the events committee, contributing to its overall success by:

• Promoting the YMCA’s annual Y Connect Campaign

• Promoting and/or attending YMCA events

• Contributing to a positive and healthy workplace culture

• Other duties to assist the team, as assigned

• Attend all YMCA meetings as required

• Work with the Marcomm team to promote the YMCA association and achieve optimal collective results

Standards that Shine

• Achieve all quality standards and targets established under YMCA best practices and the YMCA’s Standards that Shine

• General cleaning as required around the facility

• Ensuring all staff are aware of Standards that Shine, and work with them to create a culture of excellence in adherence to guidelines and expectations outlined by the Standards that Shine.

Interpersonal/Communication Skills

• Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, managers, and the senior leadership team

• Ensure workplace conflicts are resolved quickly, following YMCA policies and procedures

Quality of Work

• Oversee and manage posting for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Youtube, and LinkedIn

• Create and manage digital ad campaigns across various platforms, including delivering analytics to assess campaign success, and trouble shoot for optimum reach and efficacy.

• Post with the highest standard of clarity, accuracy, professionalism, and integrity.

• Know and execute current trends on social media platforms and algorithms. (e.g., specifications and policies).

• Create videos and reels of all YMCA departments for social media.

• Attend special events and provide social media coverage as deemed necessary

• Work with Communications & Marketing Manager on brainstorming and creating multi-channel campaigns.

• Support Communications & Marketing Manager with writing/proofing copy for social media.

• Assist Communications & Marketing Manager in expanding, organizing, and maintaining the YMCA Photo Library

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• Shared office space, located on the main floor

• Stairs to the basement, as needed to access storage, additional washrooms, and future staff room.

• Sitting at a desk and using a computer for most of the day.

• From time to time, may need to lift boxes of files weighing up to 20 lbs.

• May be exposed to all weather conditions when walking outside to/from bank or vehicle.

• May be exposed to all weather conditions when using vehicle for occasional business purposes (e.g., dropping a parcel off at the post office)
