MEDICINE HAT, DECEMBER 26, 2020 – Under the guidance and direction of AHS South Zone Medical Officer of Health, the YMCA of Medicine Hat, has been actively working since August 31, 2020 to implement preventative measures to reduce the threat of COVID-19 spread within YMCA of Medicine Hat’s licensed Before & After School Care Programs.

On December 24th we were advised that an employee who worked in the December 21st licensed day camp tested positive for COVID-19. Due to the YMCA’s stringent policies on PPE, screening, and sign-in, the staff member was asymptomatic and wearing a mask at all times they were in our facility. Additionally, all Covid-19 public health guidelines have been followed within the program including increased sanitization and disinfecting, reduced capacity, increased social distancing, etc. For everyone’s protection, the facility received additional deep cleaning and sanitization earlier today.
