March 17, 2021 — The YMCA of Medicine Hat is pleased to announce the gradual re-opening of its South Ridge branch (644 Spruce Way SE) on Monday, March 22nd. The facility will be open Monday – Friday from 2:30pm – 9:00pm. All Government of Alberta public health regulations will be followed, meaning that members will need to book appointments according to the intensity level of their workout. Low intensity workouts can be done individually, but high intensity workouts require a trainer. Appointments will be available to start booking on Saturday via the Member Portal.

The YMCA recognizes that its members are anxious for the facility to return to its full operating hours. We expect to have more information on when that will be possible after the Premier’s announcement on Monday. Our goal is to have services return to normal as soon as it is reasonable and safe to do so.

The YMCA is pleased to continue removing financial barriers to fitness with its affordable COVID Memberships. For $15 bi-weekly, members can access unlimited 1-1 training appointments (subject to trainer availability) and individual low intensity workouts. The YMCA also has financial assistance available to offset membership costs for anyone in the community who is facing financial difficulties.

“We believe that physical health is crucial to mental health,” said Sharon Hayward, CEO. “By removing financial barriers, the YMCA is living its value of inclusiveness. The re-opening of the South Ridge facility will provide the community with more affordable opportunities to improve their health and well-being.”
