The YMCA of Medicine Hat’s annual River Run has been a tradition in the community for more than 35 years, raising dollars to support the YMCA’s Strong Kids program. While the COVID-19 pandemic forced its cancellation last summer, the YMCA is pleased to announce that it has expanded options this year to ensure the event can proceed safely, in compliance with all public health regulations. This year participants can choose to participate in-person OR virtually. Should public health restrictions in June prevent in-person participation, the event can easily transition to be fully virtual.

Also new this year are different routes that accommodate the City of Medicine Hat’s pathway system upgrades. Routes include 3 km, 5 km, 10 km, and 21.1 km half marathon options. Prize medals will be awarded to the top male/female 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers, while participation medals will be provided to all racers.

Registration is currently available, with early bird prices in effect until April 30th at . The deadline to register is June 17th at 11:59 pm.

“The funds raised from the YMCA’s annual River Run support the Strong Kids program, which removes financial barriers by providing assistance to offset membership and day camp fees,” said Sharon Hayward, CEO. “The YMCA is a charity that strongly believes safe health and recreational opportunities should be available to everyone in the community, regardless of their financial circumstances.”
