Last night the Government of Alberta announced new restrictions for regions with at least 50 cases per 100,000 people, and at least 30 active cases. The community of Medicine Hat falls within that range. These restrictions are in place for at least 3 weeks and will be extended if necessary

What Does This Mean?


Downtown and South Ridge YMCA Facilities & Programs - Effective Sunday, May 9 at 11:59 pm
  • The Downtown and South Ridge YMCA facilities will be closed to the public until restrictions allow us to re-open.
  • All facility rentals will be cancelled, unless a group has an exemption. Any groups with exemptions are asked to contact Alaina at rental.coordinator@medicinehatymca.ca
  • All child/youth lessons are cancelled
  • Outdoor group fitness classes are cancelled
  • Free online programming is available through Y@Home (note: subscription fees apply to upgrade to Y@Home+)
  • We are in the process of contacting our fitness volunteers to determine if anyone is available to offer online group fitness classes. Please watch our website and social media platforms. We will post updates as soon as available.
  • Appointments or lessons scheduled prior to May 9 at 11:59 will proceed, complying with all current public health restrictions.
    • Please note that if Medicine Hat becomes a "hot zone" before May 9th, we will be required to cancel all appointments.

COVID Memberships - Effective May 9 at 11:59 pm
  • If you currently have a temporary COVID membership, it will be automatically cancelled. All COVID memberships are currently paid up to Friday, May 7. No further payments will be pulled, and you are welcome to access our facilities this weekend, prior to the new restrictions coming into effect. 
    • Please note that if Medicine Hat becomes a "hot zone" before May 9th, we will be required to cancel all appointments.
  • When our facilities are re-open you are welcome to re-active your COVID membership if you choose.
 
Regular YMCA Memberships
  • The new restrictions have no impact on regular (pre-COVID) memberships. They will remain on hold until our facilities can return to normal operations.

Outdoor Family Cohort Fun Activities 

  • Available at the South Ridge YMCA as of May 10th 
  • $15 per family/household cohort per hour
  • Choose from different outdoor activities to do with your family cohort including:
    • Larger Than Life Yard Games (Yard Yahtzee, Giant Jenga, Ladder Ball, Disk Toss, Giant Connect Four, Croquet, or Bocce Ball)
    • Nerf Wars
    • Obstacle Course
  • Appointments available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday evenings and Saturdays & Sundays
