Dear valued YMCA member, donor and friend,

The YMCA of Medicine Hat has been offering programs and services to our community for over 60 years in the areas of Child Care, Employment Services, Day Camps, Health & Fitness Programs and the Early Intervention Program for Young Mothers. At the YMCA the safety and well-being of our members, participants, staff, volunteers and community have always been of utmost importance. As you know, the current pandemic situation has resulted in several YMCA program / building closures, for more information please visit News.

We want to assure our donors that we do have a business continuity plan in place and will ensure our YMCA weathers this unexpected situation. As we each respond to this crisis personally and professionally, we have been overwhelmed and truly humbled by the number of people who have reached out and asked to support the YMCA during this time by continuing their membership fee payments or donating their childcare refunds back to the Association. Coming together as a local community to support one another has never been more important than it is today, and we would like to thank each and every person who is thinking of supporting local charities in the midst of this crisis.

If you would like to help the YMCA of Medicine Hat, the best way to do so is to go to our online donation portal . This will ensure that your donation gets to where our YMCA needs it most. Please note, we route all donations through Shaw Charity Classic Foundation’s Birdies for Kids Program. This program leverages all donations by providing matching funds up to 50%. Rest assured, 100% of all donations made through the Birdies for Kids will come to the YMCA of Medicine Hat. A tax receipt will be automatically generated and emailed to you, issued through the Calgary Shaw Charity Classic Foundation.

At this time, we do not have the capacity to adjust individual membership/childcare fee requests as a method of donation. We recognize that donating online takes a bit of extra time, but we hope you understand that it’s the best way to help our YMCA right now.

In times of crisis the YMCA steps up. We love our community and have set up several online options for fitness during this closure that you can access. When we re-open, we look forward to welcoming you back into our programs and services.
