MEDICINE HAT -  Medicine Hat Public School District and the YMCA of Medicine Hat are pleased to announce an expanded partnership whereby the YMCA of Medicine Hat has been selected as the operator of Before & After School Programming located in 11 elementary schools within School District No. 76. With this decision, School District No. 76 signalled its confidence in the YMCA as an experienced and trusted leader in child care services. 

This opportunity will see the YMCA of Medicine Hat’s child care footprint expand to approximately 800 licensed child care spaces in the following locations:

  • Connaught School - 101 8 Street SW
  • Crestwood School - 2300 19 Ave SE
  • Dr. Ken Sauer School – 20 Terrace Drive NE
  • Dr. Roy Wilson Learning Centre – 751 Strachan Rd. SE
  • Elm Street School – 1001 Elm Street SE (mornings only, no change to afternoon care)
  • George Davison School – 155 Sprague Way SE
  • River Heights School – 301 6 Avenue SW
  • Ross Glen School – 48 Ross Glen Rd. SE
  • Southview Community School – 2425 Southview Dr. SE
  • Vincent Massey School – 901 Hargrave Way NW
  • Webster Niblock School – 909 4 Avenue NE

The YMCA of Medicine Hat currently offers early years child care services to over 93 children and their families at the John Millar and Crescent Heights Child Development Centres.
“The YMCA of Medicine Hat is working closely with School District No. 76 to ensure a smooth transition for all families who access Before & After School care programming. Existing program staff will be given an opportunity to apply for similar positions with the YMCA to ensure program continuity,” Hayward says. “Parents can expect high-quality service with open and frequent communication.”

YMCA’s A Place to Connect™ curriculum brings a high-quality approach to the delivery of Before and After School Care programs for children 5-12 years old. This curriculum began national implemented 2016, making the YMCA the only organization in Canada with a national curriculum for before and after school programs.
